Commemoration of the battles of Saratoga and Yorktown

This commemoration held in the churchyard of Trinity Church on Broadway was organised by the Lower Manhattan Historical Society with the participation of the Sons of the American Revolution in the State of New York, the 1st New York Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American revolution, the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society and the National Democratic. This event honoring Genral Horatio Gates, Colonel Marinus Willett and Alexander Hamilton is in its fourth year.
The Consul General of France Anne-Claire Legendre and General Thierry Lion, Head of the french Military Mission to the UN laid a wreath on the tomb of Alexander Hamilton. Delegates of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Sons of the American Revoluton laid a wreath at the tomb of General Horatio Gates. Members of the Lower Manhattan Historical Society laid a wreath at the tomb of Marinus Willett, prominent leader in the American Revolution and hero of the Battle of Fort Stanwix.
Lt Col Stephen J Ryan, US Army Res, Commandant of the Veteran Artillery Corps received the First Annual Gates and Hamilton Ceremony Award.
The ceremony was attended by Gale Brewer, Manhattan Borough President, Jean Lachaud, President of the American Society of Le Souvenir Français and benefitted from the very effetive efforts of Frederic P Vigneron, Colonel in the French Air Force Reserves.
Our Federation was represented by Alain Dupuis, President, Joseph Crouzilhat, !st VP, Daniel Falgerho, 2nd VP, Henri Dubarry, Treasurer, Michel Dumerchat and Pierre Martinez, Color Guard.
The Veteran Corps of Artillery in splendid uniforms made a deep impression. The Corps was formed in 1790 by veterans of Washington’s army. Its current Commandant Col Stephen J Ryan served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti and Nairobi.
